What are the responsibilities and job description for the Radiation Therapy Technologist position at Cancer Specialists LLC?
Cancer Specialists of North Florida is recruiting for an experienced Radiation Therapy Technologist for our busy Radiation Department. The Radiation Therapy Technologist (RTT) works under general supervision operates all radiation therapy equipment, set up and treats patients as per MD prescription. Maintains patient treatment records, provides support to patients under the standards of the practice and safety principles. Travel will be required to all locations that provide Radiation services to patients. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Administers doses of radiation to specific body parts, using radiation therapy equipment according to established practices and standards as prescribed by the physician.
- Positions patients for treatment with accuracy according to prescription.
- Reviews prescription, diagnosis, patient chart and identification.
- Maintains records, reports, and files as required, including such information as radiation dosages, equipment settings and patients’ reactions. Observes the patient’s clinical progress and uses clinical decision making skills to recognize and report any signs of complications.
- Follows principles of radiation protection for patient, self, and others.
- Adheres to radiation safety procedure protocol.
- Safely and effectively operates a variety of computerized simulation and treatment machines.
- Performs machine safety checks, knows sale limits of equipment operations, and reports abnormalities or inconsistencies to the proper authority.
- Constructs immobilization devices and employs custom blocking techniques that are conducive to conformal radiation therapy.
- Utilizes sophisticated imaging equipment and treatment planning systems for precise tumor localization.
- Works closely with the radiation Oncologist and the therapy team in the preparation of a treatment plan that is customized to the patient’s needs.
- All other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy Technology program
- 3-5 years of experience performing radiation therapy preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Current / valid Florida Radiation Therapy license required
- ARRT Certification
