Cancer Support Community (CSC), the largest nonprofit provider of social and emotional support for people affected by cancer, is seeking a Data Manager, Research for the Research & Training Institute (RTI). The RTI conducts novel psychosocial, behavioral, and survivorship research to advance scientific knowledge, inform policy initiatives, and support development of supportive care programming and education. The primary activities of this position are focused on maintaining and operating our Cancer Experience Registry (CER), including survey platform programming and management, data quality assurance checks, management of research data, creation of datasets for investigators, and preparation of reports with data tables, charts, and visualizations to clearly share results.

JOB SUMMARY
The Data Manager, Research will support all operations necessary for the Cancer Experience Registry (CER), including survey platform programming and management, data quality assurance checks, management of research data, creation of datasets for investigators, and preparation of reports with data tables, charts, and visualizations to clearly share results.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assure data are properly collected and processed and survey systems are maintained.
- Perform data cleaning and collaborate with investigators to resolve issues encountered that affect data integrity.
- Use SPSS syntax to clean, merge, and analyze data.
- Prepare datasets for analysis by investigators according to regular schedule and timeline.
- Regularly update data dashboards.
- Monitor and update the CER project plan to ensure accuracy and timely delivery of tasks
- Schedule weekly CER operations meetings with appropriate team members; provide weekly agenda
- Assist in the definition, specification, and documentation of data and security requirements.
- Configure incentive management system and monitor dissemination.
- Prepare internal and external reports with tables, charts, and visualizations to clearly share results.
- Manage technology accounts and coordinate with third-party vendors (e.g., Voxco, Qualtrics).
- Write detailed documentation/specifications for analysis data sets and related files.
- Respond to ad-hoc data requests.
Performs other duties as required by management
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Attention to Detail: Identify and resolve inconsistencies in survey data, ensuring accuracy and reliability for analysis.
- Technical Proficiency: Navigate and configure survey platforms (Voxco, Qualtrics) and data management tools with ease.
- Problem-Solving: Troubleshoot survey programming issues, data discrepancies, and system errors to maintain data integrity.
- Project Management: Prioritize and manage multiple data-related tasks, meeting deadlines while maintaining quality.
- Clear Communication: Effectively convey data updates, issues, and requirements to relevant team members, ensuring transparency and timely resolution of challenges.
- Confidentiality & Compliance: Maintain strict data security and confidentiality standards, ensuring adherence to ethical and legal guidelines.
- Analytical Thinking: Apply logic and critical thinking to streamline data collection processes and improve efficiency.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
- Expert knowledge of SPSS for data management and analysis, including writing and using syntax.
- Intermediate knowledge of web-based survey applications, including Voxco and Qualtrics
- Technical proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
EDUCATION:
Master’s degree or bachelor’s degree with 3-7 years related data management experience and/or training
EXPERIENCE:
2 years with Master’s degree or 3-7 with Bachelor’s degree.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES/REGISTRATIONS:
CITI program human research compliance training
WORK LOCATION
CSC has offices located in Washington D.C. and offers in-person, hybrid, or fully remote work for this position.
