What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supervisor, Accounting position at Candidate Experience site?
Cetera Financial Group is searching for a talented and passionate Supervisor, Accounting to join our team. The Supervisor will report to the Sr. Manager of the team and supervise less experienced staff on the team (up to 2 direct reports). The position will be responsible for supporting various aspects of the monthly close and reporting of the financial results of the Broker-Dealer and RIA. The position will assist in implementing process improvements to help the team streamline and enhance efficiencies, promote the analysis and communication of results, and provide proactive customer service to business partners. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who collaborates well with team members. This role will be hybrid -work from home opportunity and our targeted locations are: Dallas, El Segundo, St. Cloud, St. Paul & Des Moines offices.
What you will do:
- Participate in monthly closing process, including preparation and review of journal entries, financial statements and related variance/account analysis
- Evaluate balance sheet schedules, prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, and address any reconciling items in a timely manner
- Supervise staff responsible accounting processes and coach lower-level staff on entry level accounting positions.
- Support quarterly and year-end financial reporting and audit deliverables for assigned broker dealer, RIA and parent entity
- Assist with integration activities associated with mergers & acquisitions and assess impact to accounting processes and associated controls
- Analyze current procedures and recommend changes to develop and implement best practice accounting procedures
- Continuously work to enhance the internal control framework. Ensure timely execution of controls
- Support FP&A in requests and ad-hoc projects as needed
- Partner with other teams/departments on ad hoc requests as determined by management
What you need to have:
- BA/BS degree in accounting or related fields with solid understanding of GAAP
- Minimum of 6 years relevant accounting experience
- Highly motivated with demonstrated ability to manage concurrent projects, adapt to change, and collaborate effectively across business functions
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with a high level of attention to detail
- Strong technical, analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Track record of taking initiative to resolve issues
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management and work in a team-oriented environment
- Technology savvy with intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Experience with Oracle and Blackline (or similar systems) preferred
- Experience in public accounting and broker-dealers preferred
- Prior supervisor experience a plus, but not required
- CPA license a plus, but not required
- Series 99 required, or willing to obtain within 6 months of hire
What is nice to have:
- CPA or MBA preferred
- Financial Services experience preferred.

Compensation:
The base annual salary range for this role is $90,000 to $130,000, plus a competitive performance-based bonus. Base annual salary depends on a wide array of factors, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of experience, certifications, and location. Base annual salary may also differ significantly due to geography and cost of labor considerations.
