SUMMARY Tests and inspects materials, parts, assemblies, finished goods and equipment at various process stages and compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products in one or more of the following job position/operation activities: Incoming Inspection, In-Process Inspection – Board QC, Electronic Testing, Connector Testing, or Alpha Testing, Final Inspection – Final Assembly & Inspection, RGA Inspection, Calibration Inspection, Fixture Maintenance, Product Specialist. These activities are accomplished by performing one or more of the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Tests, Inspects and Repairs electronic and connector materials, parts, assemblies, and finished goods according to priorities set by the Scheduling & Production. 2. Trouble shoots (evaluates and repairs faulty circuits) failed in-process assemblies by interpreting engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas. 3. Records test data such as quantity of assemblies inspected and quantity of failures and defects by applying statistical quality control procedures. 4. Follows Canfield Industries’ personnel and quality policies and procedures. 5. Interprets and follows supplied catalogs, drawings, schematics, standard operating procedures, instructions, and work orders (B.O.M.s), etc. 6. When required, performs the following QA activities outside of Incoming, In-Process, or Final Inspection. a. Evaluates and repairs customer returns (RGA Inspection). b. Inspect equipment for calibration (Calibration Inspection). c. Builds and maintains test fixtures and equipment (Fixture Maintenance) d. Confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards (Product Specialist). i. Selects products for tests at specified stages in production process, and tests products for variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical, electrical, or chemical characteristics. ii. Look into processes in production & testing, check for redundancy and new ideas. iii. Sets up and performs destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics. iv. Prepares graphs or charts of data or enters data into computer for analysis. v. Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards. vi. Works on manuals and troubleshoots. vii. Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability. e. May be required to act as assistant quality manager on an as needed basis. 7. Confers with the Quality Manager & Maintenance personnel on substandard equipment performance. 8. Confers with the Quality Manager on job related problems and concerns.
a. Observes designated worker performing standard tests and measurements, reads results, duplicate tests and compares test results and measurements to verify accuracy of measurement. 9. Operates various types of test equipment and machinery including the following: various meters, gauges, power supplies, test fixtures, Hypot, microscope, soldering & desoldering workstations, sprinter, and computer. 10. When low on work or when needed, helps out in other operations or departments.
