The Manager Philanthropy Events is responsible for planning, organizing and executing impactful fundraising events within the region, including galas, graduations, volunteer appreciation gatherings, and other mission-driven activities. Serving as the regional events lead, it provides strategic guidance to regional and headquarters leadership to ensure alignment with organizational goals. The position drives financial success by securing corporate sponsorships, cultivating auction donors, and stewarding donor relationships. This position plays an ambassadorial role, representing Canine Companions at events and in the community to increase awareness and support for our mission. The primary goal is to maximize fundraising outcomes, strengthen donor engagement, and enhance the visibility of the Canine Companion’s mission in the region.
A typical day as a community events coordinator may include:
- Plan, coordinate, organize and lead regional events that will raise the funding requirements of the regional budget.
- Lead volunteers, appropriate staff and event chairs to implement and grow and meet the participation and revenue for the events.
- Responsible for event communications; including, but not limited to, creation and/or editing event and sponsorship communications including the editing and updating of website information.
- Collaborate with volunteer manager to recruit, screen, and train volunteers for their event tasks and ensure proper coverage for events.
- Train volunteers in event protocol in accordance with Canine Companions’ procedures. Oversee and evaluate the ongoing work performance of volunteers and follow-up volunteer service with recognition and thank you letters.
- In conjunction with philanthropy staff, develop ad hoc volunteer committees for special events as needed. Support, encourage and oversee various volunteer chapter event activities.
- Coordinate all aspects of event logistics, including venue selection, catering, entertainment, decor, and audio/visual requirements.
- Manage event timelines, ensuring all tasks are completed on schedule.
EXPECTATIONS: To be successful in this position:
Must Haves:
- Minimum two years of event planning experience.
- Proficient with computer software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Post-secondary degree preferred, preferably in hospitality, public relations, non-profit or a field directly related to this role, or combination of education and experience that would lead to the successful performance of the essential functions of the role.
Nice to Haves:
- Database, volunteer coordination and/or fundraising experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- General office working conditions apply.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
- The employee will work indoors and outdoors performing philanthropic management, training and administrative duties.
- Employee will spend a good portion of the day in a seated position at a computer with keyboard and mouse but will work occasionally outdoors at events.
- Occasional travel, evening and weekend hours required.
SCHEDULE: Full-time
RATE OF PAY: $52,000 - $56,000 annually

The base salary range below represents the low and high of the range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of total compensation package for employees.
