Public Safety Dispatcher
to join our Public Safety team. This part-time, weekend position plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our campus safety systems, handling both emergency and non-emergency calls, and supporting our community with efficiency and care. What You'll Do
Dispatch Emergency Services:
Operate
the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system to evaluate, prioritize, and relay emergency calls to the
appropriate units
Monitor Safety Systems
Utilize
radio communications, fire alarm systems, and the university ID card system to
assist
in emergency response and routine operations.
Interact With Campus And Public
Serve as a key point of contact for students, faculty, staff, the
general public
, and law enforcement agencies.
Clerical Support
Perform clerical duties related to the maintenance and release of information to law enforcement and other public safety entities.
Work Under Pressure
Handle emergency situations with clarity and composure, ensuring
timely
response while
maintaining
a professional and calm demeanor.
What You Need
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or GED. At least 1 year of experience in radio communications or a related field. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
Tech Skills
Proficiency
in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new computer programs and systems.
Communication
Clear communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to follow instructions in a fast-paced environment.
Professionalism
Ability to work well with diverse groups, including students, faculty, staff, and external agencies.
Physical Requirements
Must be comfortable sitting for extended periods and work weekends (Saturday & Sunday) during the day or afternoon shifts.
Compensation & Benefits
Hourly Wage:
$15.60 per hour
Training
Completion of dispatcher training course
