Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Business Development Consultant to lead and expand our growth initiatives, with a focus on government contracts and sales within the telecommunications distribution sector. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully winning and managing government contracts, a deep understanding of the telecommunications landscape, and a passion for driving business growth.

As a Business Development Consultant, you will be responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, developing strategic relationships with key stakeholders, and driving revenue growth through government and commercial channels. Key Responsibilities:

  • Government Contracts and Procurement: Lead efforts to identify and win government contracts in the telecommunications sector, including federal, state, and local opportunities.
  • Sales Strategy Development: Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies to grow our presence in the telecommunications distribution market, with a focus on government procurement and private sector partnerships.
  • Proposal Management: Oversee the development of compelling proposals, ensuring compliance with government regulations, contract specifications, and timelines.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key government agencies, decision-makers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct market research to identify new opportunities, competitive trends, and potential areas for expansion in both government and commercial markets.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams (sales, operations, and legal) to ensure smooth execution of contracts and projects.
  • Reporting & Metrics: Provide regular reports on sales performance, pipeline status, and forecasting to senior management.
  • Networking: Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and government procurement sessions to raise visibility and network with potential clients and partners.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development, sales, or government contract management within the telecommunications distribution industry.
  • Government Contracting Knowledge: Proven experience in successfully navigating and winning government contracts, including familiarity with the procurement process, FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation), GSA (General Services Administration) schedules, and other relevant government contracting frameworks.
  • Telecommunications Industry Expertise: Deep understanding of telecommunications products, services, and technologies, with the ability to position the company’s offerings effectively.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to create clear, persuasive proposals and engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Negotiation Skills: Strong ability to negotiate complex contracts, pricing, and terms with clients, suppliers, and government entities.
  • Project Management: Experience managing multiple projects and contracts simultaneously, with attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Telecommunications, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with the telecommunications distribution supply chain.
  • Existing relationships with key government agencies and prime contractors.
  • Proficiency in government contract databases such as SAM.gov, FedBizOpps, etc.
