Description
The Assistant Strength and Conditioning (S/C) Coach reports directly to the Director of Sports Performance and the primary role of the Assistant S/C Coach is to improve and maintain S/C for Cannon Athletes. The purposes of the position are to improve the competitiveness of Cannon athletes and to improve their confidence in their fitness, wellness, and overall physical well-being. It is expected that the Assistant S/C coach helps to develop and maintain a curriculum that is suitable for all Cannon Athletes at the MS, JV and Varsity levels. The S/C program must be viewed as a curriculum similar to that of academic curricula, and the S/C coach is a key stakeholder in this curriculum in close collaboration with the Director of Sports Performance and the Head Athletic Trainer. The Director of Athletics maintains all authority in decisions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborating with DSP on strength, conditioning, agility, nutrition curriculum
- Collaborating with ATC on rehabilitation and return to play programs for injured athletes.
- Collaborating with athletes, parents and coaches to assure athletes are following rehab plan
- Maintain S/C equipment/facility
- Maintain records for athletes (with assistance from athletes – athletes should own as much as possible)
- Keep S/C facility clean
- Maintain knowledge in the field of S/C
- Maintain membership in NHSSCA
Qualifications
CERTIFICATION
- Certified Strength and Conditiong Specialist (CSCS) required
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
- 3 years experience in related filed preferred
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
- BS or BA degree required in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or closely related field.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
