Position Title: Lead Driver

Job Summary:
Ensures team of drivers deliver patient transportation in a timely and courteous manner. Position requires a high commitment to service excellence.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Leadership Responsibilities
- Ensures that drivers adhere to schedules and departmental policies
- Delivers training and ensures understanding and adoption for all drivers on new processes
- Fosters teamwork within the team to ensure patient satisfaction and group goals are being met
- Acts as a liaison between Drivers and Corporate for all concerns as it relates to the pick-up and drop-off of patients.
- Stays in contact with the office to report any change in schedule including patient cancellations
- Manages all driver requests
- Leads the group to attain goals and ensure patient satisfaction.
Driving responsibilities
- Ensures the safety of all passengers
- Transports patient to health center, hospital or specialist office
- Assist patients getting in and out of the vehicle – including help with wheelchair and walkers
- Contacts patients to confirm pick up times
- Works flexible shifts as work dictates
- Delivers, monitors and conducts miscellaneous pick-ups as needed
- Checks and maintains van daily and ensures that it is mechanically safe and clean
- Reports any incident or accidents to the supervisor and management immediately
- Holds Safety meetings and turn in signed roster

Education & Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 2 years driving experience required; a minimum of 1 year of patient or person transportation
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred
- Clean driving record – 3-year MVR will be verified
- Knowledge of Miami-Dade County streets and addresses as well as Broward County.
- Customer service skills
- Certified in proper use of wheelchair lift and securing patients in the wheelchair.
Knowledge, Skills & Proficiencies:
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to transport members in a safe, timely and efficient manner
- Ability to work flexible schedule and location
- Must be able to comply with company policies and procedures
- Must be able to maintain patient confidentiality at all times
- Must have basic mechanical skills i.e. ability to check and fully inspect their vehicles daily
Tools & Equipment Used:
Computer and peripherals, standard and customized software applications and tools, and usual office equipment.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment:
This position works under usual office conditions. The employee is required to work at a personal computer as well as be on the phone for extended periods of time. Must be able to stand, sit, walk and occasionally climb. The incumbent must be able to work extended and flexible hours and weekends as needed. Physical demands include ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
