Lifeguard- Position Overview
- The Lifeguard maintains safe swimming conditions in the pool, on the deck, and surrounding areas. Serving as a mentor and role model by creating a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes youth safety and engagement
Job Responsibilities
- Maintains constant surveillance of the pool and the pool areas
- Maintains current knowledge of all emergency procedures within pool and pool area
- Responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with MCHS policies and procedures; provides timely and accurate reports and follow-ups.
- Knows, understands, and consistently applies health and safety rules, policies, guidelines for the pool and pool area.
- Perform pool equipment checks and ensure availability of required equipment
- Demonstrate knowledge of and adherence to all policies and procedures for the program.
- Reports applicable information, concerns, and schedule changes to the Program Director.
- Additionally, organizes occasional recreational activities/duties when there is inclement weather/as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Must meet minimum age of 21.
- Certified in CPR for the Professional Rescuer; AED; and basic First Aid Certifications required.
- Must be able to maintain physical and mental alertness while working with children and adolescents
