GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Behavior Consultant is responsible for the development of Functional Behavior Assessments, Behavior Intervention Plans, as well as classroom consultation, treatment integrity, monitoring, parent education, and staff training. The Behavior Consultant supervises an assigned Behavior Technician. The Behavior Consultant will facilitate communication and collaboration with parents, school districts and related outside service providers.

LEADERSHIP AND SUPERVISION OF OTHERS
- Supervises and guides assigned Behavior Technician.
- Participates in the selection process of new hires
- Disciplines, trains, and assigns subordinates
- Establishes and appraises performance levels of subordinates
- Monitors compliance with agency policies and procedures pertaining to, but not limited to : incident reporting, quality assurance regulations, fire safety, and employee conduct
- Constantly maintains high professional standards at work with regard to personal behavior and interactions with other staff, individuals, and outside agencies
- Organizes, conducts and participates in staff meetings, in-service events, etc.
- Provides for staff development and training, including new hire orientation
- Participates in professional development and community and inter-agency committees to remain current on changing trends and program requirements
- Provides consultation, supervision, and instruction to staff through individual and group conferences in order to assist staff in development of service skills
- Participates in the development of Agency policies and procedures in conjunction with the Director of Education
- Attend required team meetings as scheduled
- Reviews and approves subordinate timecards and time off requests
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Complete Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) for the purpose of ensuring accurate student placement, developing more effective IEP objectives, and complying with mandated requirements.Develop Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) to the extent warranted, as result of the FBACreate recommendations for comprehensive servicesProvide crisis intervention for students as neededDevelop reliable methods to track individual progressInterpret behavior dataParticipate in maintaining a Behavior Intervention Plan for students with challenging behaviorsInform staff of appropriate individual interventions and guide them in proper useMonitor and ensure that staff is capable of implementing and established BIPProvide input and guidance on the assignments of staff based on their strengthsAssist classroom teams with creation and implementation of classroom management plans, as neededParticipate in student CSE / CPSE meetings as needed and / or assigned for the purpose of assisting in establishing effective student achievement goals and conveying / receiving informationAssist in developing procedures and training materials for instructional staff who support students with challenging behaviors for the purpose of enhancing individual programs and ensuring that operations are in compliance with established guidelinesAct as liaison between the family, student, and instructional staff for the purpose of supporting individual behavioral goals.Assist in training and supporting instructional staff (e.g. new staff modeling, staff development training, classroom training)Conduct workshops, training, in-service presentations in classroom management techniques and other topics for the purpose of assisting staff in more successfully developing behavior management skillsUtilize Ukeru Behavior Management System, including blocking techniques and protective releases, as neededParticipate in the training and monitoring of all direct service staff, utilizing the Ukeru curriculumProvide guidance to all assigned direct service staff for the implementation of Ukeru procedures as they apply to the program, to individual students, and to the implementation of individual Behavior Intervention PlansServe as consultant to the Parent Coordinator in matters related to student behavior, training, and any general parent relations needsParticipate in committee of their choosing (including but not limited to : Safety Committee, Professional Development Committee, Standing Incident Review Committee, etc.)Provide training to all newly hired staff members in monthly orientation regarding behavior support strategiesProvide additional trainings in monthly orientation, as needed, in the absence of Behavior Department HeadFacilitate student behavior-related trainings to instructional staff as needed during scheduled in-servicesEstablish connections with school district transportation departments, to assist with any student behavior concerns and to offer specific or general behavior-related trainings on a scheduled or as-needed basisFacilitate Student Review meetings, including all members of a student's team.Maintain all student records related to behavior in CMS, the Agency intranet, etc. including electronic documentation of all behavior tracking data.Complete Behavior Support Referrals, as needed within the CMS program.If a BIP is not appropriate, provide proactive strategies to the student's team in the form of a Behavior Protocol.Provide ongoing modeling and demonstration of BIP to a student's teamAttend Grade group team meetings as appropriate (ex. K-2, High School)Work jointly with a designated Behavior Technician to provide specific and thorough supports to each student within the caseloadProvide support and guidance regarding FBA / BIP information, modeling, best practices, etc. to the designated Behavior TechnicianConsistently comply with all agency policies and proceduresPerform other duties as requested by the Behavior Department HeadMaintain Ukeru Instructor certificationSKILLS AND ABILITIES

Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Behavior Analysis or related field and 7 years' experience working with people with developmental disabilities
Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Behavior Analysis or related field and 7 years' experience working with people with developmental disabilities and 2 years' experience in the direct development of Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans.
