Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Current driver's license if providing direct patient care.
- Able to read and write in English effectively.
- Demonstrate interest in the welfare of the ill and elderly.
- Reliable transportation and valid auto liability insurance (if providing direct patient care).
- Agree to and pass a criminal history check (for direct care volunteers).
Working Conditions
As a Hospice Volunteer, you can expect to work in various settings, including patients' homes, which may have different conditions. You may be exposed to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases. It is essential to have Hepatitis acceptance/declination for patient care volunteers.
Physical and Mental Effort
The role requires prolonged standing and walking, as well as occasional lifting, pulling, carrying, and pushing items. You will also need to stoop, kneel, and reach while accessing files. Working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and patient needs is expected.
