The Special Events and Programs Coordinator is a key member of the Canton Club 55 team.
This position is responsible for assisting with coordination and planning, managing, and promoting services, programs, and activities that promote the quality of life and well-being of adults at Canton Club 55 and the Summit on the Park.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plans, supervises, and coordinates general recreation programs and activities for those aged 55 .
- Coordinates set-up, tear down, and clean-up of programs and events.
- Interacts with patrons to provide positive customer experience. Provides accurate information regarding activities and services.
- Responsible for recruiting, interviewing, training, scheduling, and supervising part-time/seasonal recreation staff/volunteers as directed.
- Works with local businesses to gain sponsorships to assist in funding events and activities.
- Participates in purchasing supplies and equipment for programs and activities.
- Ensures safety rules, policies, regulations, and procedures are followed by the public and employees.
- Prepares information and reports for budget requests.
- Responsible for keeping abreast of community needs and current trends in the recreation field to ensure the delivery of quality customer service for program and activity participants and guests.
- Works with community organizations, groups, and individual citizens to promote recreation programs and events.
- Provides information for monthly and annual reports as applicable.
- Ensures proper ADA accommodations are met in the facility.
- Responsible for enforcement of departmental rules and regulations, operating procedures, and policies.
- Responds to emergency situations, including First Aid, Severe Weather, and Missing Child events.
- Works Club 55 front desk shifts weekly, or as needed.
Requirements:
- High school graduate or GED required.
- Previous customer service experience required; supervisory experience preferred.
- Previous recreation experience in a similar facility or program is preferred; experience working with older adults is preferred.
- Strong organizational and communication skills required.
- Ability to perform manual lifting and loading of program supplies and equipment.
- Ability to clearly communicate procedures, problems, and policies with fellow employees and the public in a tactful and courteous manner.
- Ability to demonstrate techniques and skills associated with assigned programs and activities.
- Ability to respond to emergencies in a calm and efficient manner.
- Ability to work a wide variety of shifts, including afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
