METALS FIELD SUPERVISOR POSITION SUMMARY
This position will be primarily responsible for all aspects of installation/construction on the job site. Installation/construction will typically involve the handling, erection, and welding of steel plates, rails, stairs, guardrails, channels, headers, beams, supports and other products.
METALS FIELD SUPERVISOR ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible to manage company welder fabricators.
- Must manage and ensure the safety, quality, and productivity of work at the jobsite locations.
- Ensure all work areas are maintained and clean and safe.
- Must plan, schedule, coordinate, and supervise daily activity of onsite personnel and subcontractors
- Required to maintain high standards of workmanship that adhere to plans and specifications
- Required to establish and maintain good working relationships with customers, general contractors, and subcontractors.
- Manage and maintain in good working order the job site construction equipment and small tools.
- When required, weld components in the flat, vertical, or overhead positions
- Perform a series of progressive welding operations to drawing tolerances and specifications.
- Must read and understand detailed drawings for weldments, including solid comprehension and interpretation of weld symbols and complete work to customer requirements and specifications
- Responsible for the direction and supervision for the day-to-day jobsite activities for the company crew.
- Must work closely with the superintendent to ensure all aspects of the project comply with the furnished erection drawings.
- Must keep accurate daily work logs
- Responsible to enter employee time into the company electronic time keeping system from manual timesheet or employee sign in sheets.
- Identify any potential conflicts or issues before installation, cutting or welding begins.
- Ensure all work is completed on schedule.
- As required, responsibility for the management of onsite welding subcontractors.
- Must maintain proficient knowledge of GMAW, GTAW, SMAW and FCAW welding on steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and other metal material and perform as required.
- Maintains, cleans, and operates company vehicle in a safe manner in accordance with the Company’s Vehicle Policy.
- Build and develop trusting relationships with current customers and seek to identify opportunities to grow our customer base and build positive relationships.
METAL FIELD SUPERVISOR EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- Vo-Tech or Technical Degree preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal, writing and presentation skills.
- AWS certification requirements of D1.1, D1.2 D1.3 and D1.6, preferred
- OSHA 30 Certification Preferred
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Possess comprehensive demonstrable knowledge of welding on steel, aluminum, and stainless steel
- Ability to work with minimal supervision at a high-level of accuracy and efficiency
- Ability to multitask, management of multiple projects
- Ability to adjust to daily work requirements in a fast-paced environment
- Proven ability to operate fork truck, boom lifts and hoists.
- Must have a valid Maryland/Virginia/DC driver’s license with a clean record that meets the standards for insurability by our Auto Insurance Carrier.
- Class B CDL a plus.
