Overview:
The Shipping and Receiving Technician will serve as a centralized resource responsible for organizing company data packs, overseeing incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), and streamlining various logistics-related tasks. The position will assist in inventory management, unloading shipments, and handling purchase orders, creating a seamless workflow across departments.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee samples from receipt to preparation for testing, inventory storage, and shipping/disposal.
- Inspect all incoming shipments for damage and proper labelling; report deficiencies to laboratory management.
- Accurately enter required sample information into appropriate systems.
- Complete all necessary paperwork related to shipping, receiving, and sample preparation.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for coordinating shipments, deliveries, and resolving sample-related issues.
- Work with lab technicians to ensure timely availability and proper placement of samples for testing.
- Maintain organized and clean sample storage areas to meet safety and compliance standards.
- Integrate continuous improvement concepts into all job responsibilities to optimize efficiency.
- Investigate and resolve issues related to missing, lost or damaged samples.
- Communicate proactively with members, trucking companies, and internal teams regarding shipping and receiving tasks.
- Track inventory of office equipment and lab supplies; identify replenishment needs.
-Support LIMS sample ID matching to streamline workflows and reduce report turnaround times.
- Collaborate across departments to enhance communication and ensure seamless workflows.
- Make recommendations for process and efficiency improvements, including budget considerations.
- Assist with special projects and provide support during high-volume periods.
- Ensure all processes adhere to company SOP's and comply with audit preparation requirements.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalency.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant software programs.
- Ability to safely operate hand and power tools, including forklifts, pallet jacks, or scissor lifts.
- Previous shipping/receiving experience strongly preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Typical industrial laboratory or warehouse environment.
- Physical demands includes standing, reaching, bending, walking, and lifting/carrying objects up to 50 lbs.
- Requires safe operation of forklifts, powered pallet jacks, or scissor lifts.
- Position requires on-site presence in the warehouse space during laboratory operational hours to support package receiving and shipping processes.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
