Traveling Podiatry practice seeking a Full-Time Medical Assistant (40hrs a week) to provide nail care treatments to our long term care patients in Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living facilities based on their needs and preferences. This position will travel to various locations in Sacramento County and beyond as a team and will be expected to travel at unexpected visits. As a Mobile Podiatry Medical Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring our patients receive the best possible care through patient support, clinical assistance, and maintaining a professional, comfortable environment during visits.
Under general supervision of the provider: Perform and document routine foot care and treatments.
Medical Assistant responsibilities include cleaning, filing, and grooming toenails, calluses and corns. This includes the trimming and removal of the cuticle, moisturizing the skin of the feet, and removal dead skin and calluses from feet. The medical assistant will also work directly with medical staff to report potentially dangerous nail conditions to the practitioner. Maintains and monitors all needed small tools, equipment and supplies, maintaining sterile compliance.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and clean and sterilize station in-between patients and Sterilize equipment before use.
- Assist with minor surgeries and procedures: Provide assistance during procedures such as wound care, nail trimming, callus removal, and foot injections, under the supervision of the podiatrist.
- Set up and maintain medical equipment, ensuring all supplies are stocked and ready for each visit.
- Perform routine administrative tasks such as processing insurance information.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all healthcare regulations and policies.
- Ensure all required documentation, including patient records and billing information, is accurate and up to date.
- Travel to patients healthcare facilities as needed.
Skills
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Experience working with electronic health records (EHR) or electronic medical record (EMR) systems
- Ability to work well in a team environment and demonstrate empathy and professionalism in patient care.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a Medical Assistant program.
Certifications: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) is preferred.
