Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Payable Specialist to join our finance team. This role is essential in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our accounts payable processes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of corporate accounting principles, technical accounting, and GAAP standards, and will be responsible for managing vendor payments, processing invoices, and maintaining accurate financial records.
Responsibilities
- Process accounts payable transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
- Review, verify, and reconcile invoices against purchase orders and contracts.
- Maintain vendor files and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Assist in month-end closing activities related to accounts payable.
- Prepare reports on accounts payable activities as needed.
- Collaborate with other departments, including human resources and payroll management, to resolve discrepancies.
- Ensure adherence to GAAP standards in all accounting practices.
- Support internal audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations regarding accounts payable transactions.
Experience
- Proven experience in corporate accounting or a related field is preferred.
- Familiarity with technical accounting principles and governmental accounting practices is a plus.
- Experience with accounts receivable processes is beneficial.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Paychex or similar platforms is desirable.
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting principles.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills are essential for success in this role.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing multiple priorities effectively.
