Primary Function
The Director of Production oversees stage and event operations at all CAPA owned and managed facilities in Central Ohio, including the Ohio, Palace, Southern, Lincoln, and Riffe Center Theatres. And coordinates CAPA presentations and events in other facilities in Central Ohio, including the Columbus Commons Park, McCoy Center for the Arts, and Hinson Amphitheatre. The Production Manager supervises theatre stage managers (Technical Directors & Head Carpenters) in all Central Ohio CAPA owned and managed stages and stage personnel working in these facilities. This position reports to the VP of Theatre Operations, and has multiple direct reports including Technical Directors, Head Carpenters, EADHs, and Union/Non-union stage employees (as needed).
Duties and Responsibilities

Oversees the schedules of full-time stage personnel at all CAPA owned and managed venues to ensure optimization of their guaranteed hours of work.
- Oversees the inventory control system to maintain appropriate inventory of all stage and production supplies and equipment.
- Manages the maintenance and replacement schedule for stage equipment on CAPA owned and managed stages, including a yearly budget.
- Works with product vendors to negotiate purchases/rentals of production and stage equipment.
- Oversees the execution of the collective bargaining agreement between CAPA and IATSE, where applicable.
- Serves as a liaison with union representatives regarding labor personnel or contract issues.
- Ensures stage employees follow CAPA safety guidelines. Makes recommendations and helps create policy around additional safety procedures.
- Works with CAPA Human Resources to hire as needed stage personnel to cover work needed in CAPA owned and managed venues.
- Ensures coverage of full-time stage personnel in the event of a vacation, sickness, or emergency.
- Supervises full-time Technical Directors, Head Carpenters, and Employer Assigned Department Heads (EADHs), including training, mentoring, performance management, and payroll submission and approval.
- Manages as-needed union and non-union employees.
- Works with rental clients to ensure their events on CAPA owned and managed stages are successful.
- Advises on Production/Technical needs for CAPAs special events, including the Gala, Annual Meeting, Holiday Displays, and more.
- Serves as a technical/production manager for CAPA produced events including concerts, performances, festivals, awards events, the Movie Series, and Christmas Carol.
- Assists the Vice President of Operations, the Vice President of Programming, and other CAPA departments with special projects as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and/or Vectorworks is a plus.
- Advanced knowledge of live performance technology is required, including lighting, sound, video and rigging systems.
- Strong leadership, personnel, and labor relations skills, with the ability to develop strong working relationships with staff, vendors, and clients.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to foresee issues and develop proactive solutions.
- Ability to meet the following physical requirements, with or without accommodation: moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds, walking up to 4 hours per day, and sitting for extended periods of time.
- A valid driver's license is required.
Credentials and Experience

Bachelors Degree in a related field is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- 6 years experience of relevant professional, technical, and supervisory experience in live performance productions.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as stage activity requires.
