Primary Overview:
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for various accounting functions for CAPA and will perform similar duties for other shared services organizations that are managed by CAPA. This is a full-time, salaried position. This position reports to the Controller, and has no direct reports. The selected candidate will also be eligible for CAPA's full benefits package, including Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance, Life/AD&D/STD/LTD Insurance, 403(b) retirement plan with up to a 5% company match after 6 months, 17 Paid Time Off days annually, and access to complimentary tickets to shows.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Accounts Payable & Vendor Management
- Oversee the full accounts payable cycle, including invoice entry, verification, and vouchering.
- Process timely check runs, ensuring timely payments to vendors.
- Manage vendor relationships, including responding to inquiries, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining effective communication.
- Ensure accurate W-9 documentation and prepare annual 1099 reporting.
- Maintain an accurate and up-to-date Aged Accounts Payable schedule.
- Monitor accounts to prevent overdue payments and ensure compliance with vendor terms
Bank Statements
- Reconcile monthly bank statements with the general ledger.
- Investigate unusual or unauthorized activity and verify bank fees.
Monthly Financial Reporting
- Assist in updating monthly reporting and projections.
- Proofread statements and board reports.
Audit Support, Tax and Grant Reporting
- Compile and present accurate data for reporting entities by deadlines.
- Prepare year-end audit schedules and assist with year-end corrections.
- Provide information to auditors and assist with the preparation of the IRS 990.
Additional Responsibilities
- Support annual budget preparation.
- Create deposit logs for shared service organizations.
- Contribute to miscellaneous analyses, projects, and departmental needs.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting/Finance or related coursework is required.
- 0-3 years accounting experience in an office environment is preferred; experience in a non-profit accounting role is a plus.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision and be committed to completing tasks on a timely basis.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Knowledge of accounting concepts and proficiency in standard office computer software.
