GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Director of Student Wellness and Support Services is responsible for the overall administration, supervision, and provision of mental health and essential needs services for students. This role operates under the supervision of the Chief Wellness Officer and as a member of the Wellness Collaborative. The Director plays a vital role in promoting the holistic well-being of students through clinical care, essential needs support, mental health education, and collaboration with other campus departments. The position is guided by the dimensions of wellness and the principles of the Okanagan Charter. This position is in person during academic term and may require occasional evening work. Travel is required between campuses to integrate and coordinate services while promoting a culture of care.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Manages mental health and essential needs services, providing quality care and education.
- Provides strategic vision and operational leadership for student-centered mental health services.
- Oversees hiring, supervision, programming, and professional development and performance evaluation of department staff and interns.
- Manages the department budget and seeks external funding opportunities.
- Coordinates the development, planning, and implementation of mental health services, policies, educational programs, essential needs programs, and crisis prevention strategies.
- Develops, updates, and integrates effective referral systems, policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Implements data-driven assessments and improvements of programs and services.
- Provides direct clinical services, including intake and triage assessments, screenings, evaluations, and individual and group counseling.
- Manages a small caseload to provide direct, therapeutic interventions for students in acute distress, including follow-up care and coordination of mental health interventions.
- Collaborates with campus partners and community organizations to ensure students have access to services.
- Coordinates with Wellness Promotion and Services and Student Wellness for campus community training programs and activities.
- Collaborates with campus safety personnel in response to behavioral interventions, mental health crises, or emergencies.
- Provides consultation to faculty/staff on mental health and essential needs awareness.
- Serves as a campus mental health advocate and consultant on various teams such as the Behavioral Intervention Team and Wellness Collaborative.
- Ensures compliance of mental health programs and policies with applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
- Performs administrative tasks, including grant reporting, budget development, data analysis, and record-keeping.
- Conducts Mental Health First Aid and Question, Persuade, and Refer Trainings.
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in counseling, clinical psychology, social work, or related field.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state license for independent clinical practice (LCSW, LMHC, LICSW, etc.). Specifically, licensed in Massachusetts in social work, counseling, or psychology.
- Ten (10) years of experience and training, including clinical counseling, mental health crisis intervention, and mental health program administration within a higher education setting.
- Demonstrated leadership, clinical expertise, and the ability to manage crisis interventions.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge and commitment to Okanagan Charter principles.
- Experience with institutional research, data-informed decision-making, and assessment.
- Experience with program development and outcomes assessment.
- Professional trainer certification in mental health and suicide prevention training.
- Experience with strategic planning and implementation.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting for grants and department reports.
- Knowledge of College policies: Title IX, Clery Act, mandated reporting, ethics.
- Independent work skills: ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated training in solution-focused, stepped care and brief intervention models.
- Demonstrated experience and/or training in trauma informed care.
- Grant writing and management experience.
- Familiarity with student development theories

Additional Information:
COMPENSATION: Annual salary range of $126,000-$130,000, dependent upon qualifications. Full-time (12 months), benefited, Non-Unit Professional position including participation in a comprehensive employee benefits program and the option for membership in the Massachusetts State Employees' Retirement System.
