GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Cape Cod Community College's Center for Community and Professional Education (CCAPE) is seeking an experienced and engaging instructor to lead Soaring into Aviation: Hands-On Maintenance for Future Technicians, a one-week summer program introducing students entering grades 7-9 to the fundamentals of aviation maintenance. Hosted at our state-of-the-art Aviation Maintenance Facility at Plymouth Municipal Airport, this program provides hands-on experiences with real aircraft, fostering an early interest in aviation careers and technical education. Program dates: Monday - Friday, 8/11/25 - 8/15/25 from 9am-4pm.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Develop and implement an engaging, hands-on curriculum focused on aviation maintenance fundamentals, aircraft mechanics, and industry safety protocols.
- Deliver dynamic instruction and lead interactive, hands-on learning experiences tailored for middle school students.
- Demonstrate and supervise the safe use of tools, materials, and aviation maintenance equipment in compliance with industry standards.
- Inspire career exploration by introducing students to potential educational pathways and career opportunities in aviation and aerospace.
- Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment, enforcing strict safety measures and maintaining high levels of student engagement.
- Collaborate with industry professionals and CCAPE staff to provide real-world insights and hands-on experiences for students.
- Set up and break down instructional materials and ensure the proper maintenance of equipment before and after each session.
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior experience in teaching, training, or instructional roles preferred, particularly in aviation, STEM education, or technical training.
- Hands-on aviation maintenance experience required; FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification preferred.
- Experience working with middle school students in an educational or mentoring capacity is strongly preferred.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and engagement skills to foster a supportive learning environment.
- Commitment to safety, mentorship, and workforce development in aviation.

Additional Information:
COMPENSATION: $65/hour for 35 hours of instruction, dependent upon qualifications, teaching experience, and field experience. An additional one-time stipend of $1,700 is available for curriculum development. Part-time project-based, non-benefited, non-unit position.
