What are the responsibilities and job description for the GIS Analyst position at Cape Fear Public Utility Authority?
Job Summary
Incumbents in this position are responsible for supporting CFPUA GIS/GPS technology and CAD programs using GIS techniques and other related software and tools.
Essential Job Functions
- Maintains and processes the GIS spatial data for input into ArcSDE for all CFPUA assets including all infrastructure for use by entire CFPUA staff.
- Creates maps and graphs for use in CFPUA publications and/or presentations.
- Converts AutoCad data into GIS spatial data to be incorporated into overall asset model of infrastructure.
- Trains and assists other employees with GIS/GPS use and troubleshooting and large format drawing production.
- Create educational/ instructional content in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and PDF formats.
- Assists the CFPUA Engineering Department to address outside agency requests.
- Maintains updated working and technical knowledge of all enhancements and procedural changes to GIS, GPS, and CAD software and hardware applications.
- Performs assigned mapping during emergencies.
- Searches archives for relevant documents and record drawings to be incorporated into GIS database
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.
In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties.
Education, Experience, and Other Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, geography, or related course study.
- Six (6) months general work experience is required.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid State of North Carolina driver's license.
Pay Grade: G18
