Brief Summary of Work for this Position
This intern position :
Facilities provides all services necessary to maintain the facilities and systems of the university. These services include construction of new buildings, renovation of existing buildings, maintenance and operations of electrical, fire alarm, HVAC, security and plumbing systems, landscape and building maintenance and physical plant administration.
The Project Management Team is hiring a student with interest in the GIS field to assist the GIS Analyst and CAD Technician with specific job functions related to the field.
Familiarity with ESRI, GIS Software, a requirement.
Students will be learning about two primary disciplines :
1 / GIS database management, archival map research and protocols for maintaining several campus map layers and,
Additionally, students will learn professional skills as they relate to the mission of the Facilities office such as project development and management, quality assurance methods and teamwork.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Undergraduate student in the scientific disciplines
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required Certifications or Licensure Valid NC Driver’s license Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit Provides assistance in the overall planning, design and construction management of both new and renovation capital improvement projects for the University. Manage the budgeting, design and construction process of these projects.
The Architectural and Construction Services Department supports the Business Affairs Division and the University mission by providing the highest quality, and most cost-effective services in facilities renovation and construction, and facilities related studies and surveys. These services are available to all university divisions to assist them in meeting stated goals and objectives, and to advance the University’s vision of the Master Plan. The position assists in managing the planning, design and execution of capital projects.
