Summary
The Application Analyst I formulates and defines system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of the applications used by the health system. Defines end-user requirements, procedures prior to the implementation of their application areas. Confers with other departments to analyze and document current operational procedures. Identify problems and learn specific input and output requirements such as forms of data input, how data are to be summarized, and formats for reports. Prepares workflow charts and diagrams to specify operations to be performed by equipment, computer programs, as well as operations to be performed by personnel in using the system. Recommend alternative procedures for improvement of workflow, either manual or automated. Have an understanding of the operational and functional areas in the organization and have the ability to communicate effectively with clinicians in these areas. Required to make formal presentations and submit written reports for review purposes. Plans and prepares non-technical reports, memoranda, and instructional manuals as documentation of program usage. May prepare time and cost estimates for completing projects. May direct and coordinate work of others to develop, test, install, and modify programs. Promotes a positive and professional image of the Information Services & Technology Department and of Cape Fear Valley Health System.

Education And Formal Training
- Associate degree in information technology or work experience in lieu of formal education will be considered.
- 1 to 2 years of information technology work experience in healthcare, or with relative operational experience. Epic experience preferred.
- Must take the Epic Sphinx exam and pass/qualify prior to being considered for this position
- Ability to obtain Epic certification in required applications within 3 months of training.
- Required flight travel to Verona, Wisconsin.
- Must demonstrate flexibility with respect to changing end-user business needs.
- Must have the ability and willingness to see things in an open-minded way; examining ideas from all angles.
- Must communicate information clearly and concisely with project leadership and subject matter experts.
- Must be able to use a computer effectively, type and take good notes.
- Good organizational and planning skills are required.
- Must be able to manage and motivate people.
- Must be able to resolve problems and conflicts effectively.
- Must be able to think logically.
- Must have an even temperament and be able to work well with people.
- Must be tactful, diplomatic, patient, and objective.
- Must be able to work within strict time constraints and be able to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project is preferred.
