Position Summary
The Legal Contracting Specialist will be responsible for preparing, analyzing, negotiating and following through to execution and retention all Health System contracts. The Legal Contracting Specialist will assist Business Owners from all functional areas in the selection of business partners, to include Purchasing, Supply Chain, Information Security and Technology, and upper-level executive team, with the documentation of obligations consistent with Business Owner requirements. The Legal Contracting Specialist will work within the framework of purchasing, contracting and legal strategies, law, administrative regulations and Health System policies and procedures. The Legal Contracting Specialist will guide and assist internal customers through the entire decision making process and contracting experience.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
1-3 years experience in a corporate / contracts setting. Prior experience in healthcare is preferred, but not required. Relevant education or certifications, such as a juris doctorate degree or paralegal certification may be considered in lieu of prior experience. The ideal candidate should have 3 years contract, negotiation and/or purchasing experience relating to the contractual process. Knowledge of contracts terminology, the law and the legal system is a plus. Excellent PC Skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access is desired. The following skills and abilities are preferable: negotiation and leadership experience, excellent interpersonal skills, ability to be resourceful and proactive in the research and development of creative solutions to contractual issues, commitment to excellent customer service, excellent independent analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret and present quantitative data, excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to work in teams and independently, proven ability to manage own work, and processes in a timely manner, ability to actively work on multiple moderately complex contracts at any time, understanding of HIPAA, Information Security and Technology and/or general knowledge of Health System policies, procedures and operations helpful.
