Summary
Entry position. A Technician I is trained on a combination of the tasks to include decontamination of surgical instruments and instrument assembly. Advancement to Technician II is determined by length of employment and ability to perform these tasks to the satisfaction of the Charge Technicians and the Manager of the Sterile Processing Department (SPD).6-months Sterile Processing Department or equivalent experience desired, but not required. Instrument trained or Operating Room experience preferred. Will train the right candidate. Reads, writes, speaks and understands English. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions and communicate these when necessary. Motor coordination and manual dexterity are required to decontaminate, process, and sterilize instruments and equipment. Must be able to pull cases needed for surgical procedures as well.Must be able to see and hear. Visual acuity is necessary when working with delicate instruments. Manual dexterity required when reaching, handling, adjusting and lifting instrument trays or boxes that may weigh as much as 50 pounds. Pushing carts with loaded weight as much as much as 100 pounds and long periods of standing are required to perform daily activities.
