Job Overview
The Accounting Clerk reports directly to the Executive Director. The accounting clerk processes accounts payable and accounts receivable items, and completes monthly bank reconciliations and basic accounting entries including depreciation. The accounting clerk pulls data from the accounting software as needed for compiling grant applications, monthly grant reimbursement requests, audit workpapers and other analysis requested by the Executive Director and Board. The Accounting Clerk assist the Executive Director in ensuring financial activities comply with internal controls and granting agency financial regulations.
Responsibilities
- Processes all accounts payable items.
- Process accounts receivable transactions and deposits.
- Oversees the billing on monthly customer contracts.
- Approves weekly payroll for processing.
- Approves the required payroll reports and ensures the reports are filed timely.
- Responsible for monthly and year-end recording of accounting entries (e.g. depreciation).
- Participates in all audits and reviews that involve financial matters.
- Ensure the transit authority complies with all applicable financial regulations and internal control measures.
- Assists in preparing the annual budget; running comparative data from the accounting software.
- Run monthly revenue and expense reports needed to prepare grant reimbursement requests.
- Assists with capital procurements and other procurements as needed.
- Assist in the development/update of financial policies and procedures.
- Completes monthly bank reconciliations.
- Any other duties assigned by the Executive Director
Job Type: Part-time
Expected hours: No more than 24 per week
