What are the responsibilities and job description for the Upper School Chemistry Teacher position at Cape Henry Collegiate?
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Under supervision of the Head of Upper School, the Upper School science teacher will be responsible for planning and implementing lessons which cover both the content and skills of various courses in an upper school collegiate setting. We are primarily looking for a teacher who is experienced and/or able to effectively teach Chemistry but will give preference to candidates who offer the willingness and ability to teach other science subjects as well. Qualified candidates will be able to create and provide an environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of adolescents to ensure success for each student as well as monitor and evaluate academic outcomes. All Cape Henry Collegiate teachers are expected to communicate and interact with students, parents, staff and community in a manner that represents the mission and core values of the school.
The Upper School science teacher will be able to...
- Plan and implement lessons that meet the learning objectives of the documented curriculum for that course.
- Work closely with various colleagues to design and incorporate performance tasks which allow students to demonstrate their application of scientific concepts in innovative ways.
- Develop, select and modify instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students.
- Collaborate with other members of the science department to support the curricular and strategic goals of the school.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. Candidates with a Master’s Degree and/or state teaching license will be given preferential treatment.
- Minimum of 3 years teaching experience within the content area preferred.
