SUMMARY
The Upper School Physics Teacher assumes the responsibility for providing learning experiences in AP Physics, Robotics, and Engineering along with the supervision of students in a supportive and positive climate that develops in each student the skills, attitudes, and knowledge to meet and exceed in the classroom. Achieving academic excellence requires the teacher to work collaboratively with other members of the school faculty, staff, and with parents.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
Ø Administers and develops Physics specific assessments for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing individual learning plans.
Ø Instructs students for the purpose of improving his/her success in academics through a defined course of study.
Ø Monitors students in a variety of educational environments (e.g. classrooms, school grounds, hallways, restrooms, field trips, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
Ø Plans a balanced curriculum and organizes daily class time so that preparation and instruction can be accomplished within the allotted time.
Ø Provides individual and small group instruction to support each student within the curriculum.
Ø Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to provide an orderly, productive environment at all times.
Ø Marks and evaluates each student’s growth and assesses each student’s contribution to the class.
Ø Prepares a variety of written materials (e.g. lesson plans, grades, correspondence with parents and students, examinations and quizzes, attendance, etc.)
Ø Maintains professional competence through self-selected professional growth activities.
Ø Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs.
Ø Maintains an attractive, stimulating learning environment.
Ø Participates in in-service workshops, meetings, sessions and all other defined activities, as well as other areas of school life.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ø Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college with a major in Physics.
Ø Capable of instructing multiple levels of Upper School Physics, Robotics and Engineering.
Ø Successful teaching experience in a classroom environment.
Ø Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ø Strong organizational skills; ability to prioritize, and multi-task situations with equal priority.
Ø Excellent interpersonal skills.
