Seasonal Canoe/Kayak Rental Staff

Position Title: Seasonal Canoe/Kayak Rental Staff, Cape Leisure Silver Springs, Silver Springs State Park

Overview: Cape Leisure provides visitor services at Silver Springs State Park near Ocala, Florida under a concession agreement with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. These services include the world-famous Glass Bottom Boat Tours, Paddling Adventures canoe and kayak rentals on the Silver River, retail, food & beverage, catering and special events management.

Join our growing team of concession professionals and work in one of the most beautiful settings in all of Florida! We’re currently hiring seasonal boat ramp staff and cashiers for our extremely popular paddling operation on the Silver River. Job responsibilities include:

Boat Ramp:

• Work all aspects of boat launch ramp operations, including moving boats to and from the water and assisting guests with boat boarding and disembarkation.
• Provide an orientation and safety briefing to each paddling guest prior to boat launch. Ensure that guests have their required safety gear, including personal flotation devices and whistles.
• Assist with unloading rental boats from the transport shuttle trailer and returning the boats to Cape Leisure's storage racks at the park.
• Assist with boat repairs as needed.
• Provide courteous, friendly and safe service to our paddling guests.
• Other duties as assigned.

Cashiers:

• Check in guests with reservations
• Assist guests with choice of paddling trip, boat type
• Walk guests through waiver process
• Answer phones
• Take payments for rentals, park admissions, and launch fees
• Provide important directions and safety information to guests
• Assist with ramp duties

Skills and Knowledge Required:

• Previous experience in a food, retail, attraction or other customer-focused setting preferred, but not required.
• Excellent guest service skills
• Reliable Transportation a must
• Must be able to pass a Drug Test
• Must be willing to work weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to move, stand, stoop and bend for an entire 8 hour shift. Tasks require consistent use of both arms and legs.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and carry for short distances.
• Must be willing to tolerate working outdoors and in warm interior environments.
• Must be able to visually inspect condition of facilities and equipment.
