JOB TITLE: Quality Manager

DEPARTMENT: Quality

REPORTS TO: President

POSITION SUMMARY: The Quality Manager will be responsible for managing quality personnel, customer and supplier interface, and maintaining compliance with all AS9100, ISO, and regulatory requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage a small to medium team of engineers and quality personnel
  • Maintain the Capewell Quality efforts and personnel
  • Maintain Quality Management System (QMS) and AS9100 Aerospace Standard
  • Evaluate production operations from a strategic level to ensure that products meet quality, integrity, functionality, and other specifications and requirements
  • Develop and assure Quality Assurance Department budget is maintained
  • Manage internal auditing activities and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with management and senior staff across production departments, to draft acceptable quality standards and compliance procedures
  • Develop and implement quality standard testing and evaluation processes
  • Assess test results and approves recommended changes
  • Review quality control documentation such as checklists, logs, and reports for effectiveness, accuracy, compliance, and relevance
  • Periodically report the status of quality control and operations to executive leadership and, when required, regulatory agencies
  • Be accountable for Quality Program management and timely performance of Quality Assurance Department tasks
  • Maintain Quality System Procedures, work instructions, and forms.
  • Schedule and escort NQA, Boeing, FAA, and other customer in-house audits
  • Complete and respond to mail in customer audits.
  • Coordinate quality changes with FAA & Boeing
  • Perform and report on 5S audits.
  • Act as a lead on LEAN projects
  • Present quality metrics and projects at all hands meetings
  • Primary contact for customer complaints including monitoring Boeing system.
  • Coordinate RMA process and responses to customers
  • Track and review supplier corrective actions
  • Review and sign ECR/ECO's
  • Monitor and report on scrap.
  • Monitor and report on cost of quality/ rejections as % of sales.
  • Assist in part inspection as needed.

  • Assist in scheduling GSI and FAA DAR inspection as needed.

  • Assist in MRB as needed.

  • Assist in compiling full raw material cert packages and issue C of C's as needed.

Requirements:

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of experience in quality management roles with increasing responsibility
  • Significant experience may replace the education requirement
  • Affiliation with ASQ a plus
  • AS9102 experience and execution
  • Experience with dimensional inspection and supplier certification
  • Internal auditor experience
  • Experience with AS9100 rev. D
  • Expert level root cause and corrective action experience
  • Significant experience in collection of data and statistical process control
  • People management skills
  • Familiarity with government source inspection
  • FAA and/or Department of Defense experience
  • Experience with GD&T or IMTE
  • Experience with government contract reviews

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Quality Manager is responsible for supervising and mentoring a team of inspectors and one engineer.

This position requires an employment agreement.

This position does not require personal protective equipment unless on the shop floor where Safety Glasses are required by all.
