External Communications Manager, Americas

Reporting to: Associate Director of External Communications
The External Communications Manager, Americas, works with the External Communications team to develop and implement a clear and effective media relations strategy across the Americas. They will work with communicators across all Americas markets and with Group External Communications to support media outreach activities that increase brand visibility and thought leadership opportunities.
The position requires strong writing skills (pitch angles, talking points, press releases and byline articles), media relations skills, interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders across the company, including executives. The position also requires creativity in deploying new tactics and tools to communicate externally.
Responsibilities:
- Communicate integrated corporate story across multiple business units, global business lines, and applications business lines via media channels to support key global messaging pillars.
- Work closely with Capgemini Americas PR agencies to help ensure targets are exceeded and share of voice is increased compared to key competitors, on time and on budget.
- Think and write strategically and creatively about a range of corporate issues in a variety of media, including, but not limited to, podcasts, videos, bylined articles, expert commentary, press releases, and briefing documents.
- Generate and secure creative storytelling ideas that resonate with influential media and align with the Americas Strategic Business Unit’s business goals.
- Take ownership of the function across the region while helping drive consistent media results.
- Build and foster key relationships with media on behalf of Capgemini Americas.
- Monitor media and identify trends and issues that could support the company’s key platforms.
- Support media programs for executive leadership and explore avenues for growth.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or related field.
- 8-10 years of experience within PR, Communications or related fields.
- Proven track record in driving and creating media relationships that result in meaningful coverage.
- Ability to translate complex messages into compelling stories that will resonate with media.
- Ability to be pragmatic and manage a fluid and sometimes fast-moving workload.
- Exceptional written and verbal communications skills.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and communicate with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders, including executive leadership.
- Self-starter who can balance multiple priorities simultaneously, able to work to tight deadlines, establish clear priorities and maintain professionalism under pressure.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Knowledge of and experience in technology/B2B/consulting industry preferred.
Candidates should be flexible / willing to work across this delivery landscape which includes and not limited to Agile Applications Development, Support and Deployment.
