The incumbent will work closely with stakeholders in both business and IT to drive process improvement, streamline pharmacy workflows, and enhance the technology infrastructure that supports the pharmacy’s mission. This position will consist of 80% business-related tasks and 20% IT-related support.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
Key Responsibilities:
Business Analysis
- Pharmacy Data Integrity Oversight: ensure accuracy and integrity of all pharmacy data. This includes internal and external data (for example data receive from the PBM).
- Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with pharmacy staff, clinical teams, and business leaders to gather, document, and analyze business requirements for new technology solutions, system upgrades, and process improvements.
- Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies and opportunities for process optimization within pharmacy operations, recommending and implementing solutions to improve workflows and outcomes.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a liaison between business units and IT teams, ensuring that the technology solutions align with business needs and that the development process is well-understood.
- Reporting & Metrics: Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and analytics to track the success of technology implementations and identify areas for future improvement.
- Project Management Support: Support the execution of projects by assisting in project planning, timelines, deliverables, and communication across stakeholders.
- User Training & Documentation: Create user manuals, conduct training sessions, and provide post-implementation support to ensure smooth adoption of new technologies or systems within the pharmacy.
IT Support & Integration
- System Configuration: Assist in the configuration of pharmacy technology solutions and ensure they are tailored to meet business needs, collaborating closely with the IT team.
- Technical Support: Provide first-level support for technology-related issues, coordinating with IT teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems.
- System Testing & Validation: Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) to validate new or upgraded pharmacy systems, ensuring they meet both business requirements and technical specifications.
- System Integration: Help integrate pharmacy technologies with other systems, ensuring data flow, interoperability, and smooth functionality across the organization.
- Documentation & Reporting: Assist in maintaining technical documentation, system manuals, and procedures related to pharmacy technology.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Certification in Business Analysis (e.g., CBAP, CCBA) or IT-related certifications preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a business analyst role, preferably within the healthcare or pharmacy technology space.
- Experience in pharmacy operations, health IT systems (e.g., pharmacy management software), or healthcare applications is a strong advantage.
- Familiarity with business process modeling, requirements gathering, and project management methodologies.
- Knowledge of pharmacy-specific regulations and standards (e.g., HIPAA) is beneficial.
Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to lead meetings and give presentations to both management and staff.
- Ability to analyze problems and issues, determine impact, and develop business solutions for system changes. Ability to act as a liaison and recommend solutions to a variety of departments, as well as other Plans and other external business partners.
- Ability to plan, organize, lead and control projects. Includes the ability to effectively communicate in writing and verbally with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to quantify and prioritize assigned activities, the ability to adapt to changing priorities, and perform duties with minimal supervision. Includes ability to act both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly present complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficient in business analysis tools (e.g., JIRA, Microsoft Office Suite, Visio).
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
- Knowledge or experience with Microsoft Office Suite products (Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.), Power BI, SAS, other 3rd or 4th generation software.
- Ability to write SQL queries, answer questions from stakeholders and assesses readiness of technical solutions and processes.
- Ability to assist QA team members with test case generation for testing cycles throughout deployment process
- Demonstrated knowledge or key pharmacy data sources e.g. PDE, MCEF, etc.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of the health care industry and Capital corporate structure. Includes knowledge of standards, policies, and business practices and procedures for multiple departments/systems. Is familiar with those business services, systems and/or processes provided by external business partners.
- Knowledge of data processing terminology and concepts. Includes a high-level technical understanding of technologies such as Microsoft Office Suite, Crystal Reporting, Data Modeling and Intranet Technology as well as knowledge of batch and real-time processing environments.
- Knowledgeable and capable of conducting cost benefit analysis techniques.
- Basic technical knowledge of pharmacy IT systems and infrastructure, with the ability to work alongside IT teams on system configuration and troubleshooting.
Work Environment:
- This role may require occasional travel between locations to interact with stakeholders, assist with training, and support project implementations.
- Flexible work options may be available, but the position typically requires some in-office presence for collaboration with both pharmacy and IT teams.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to operate standard office equipment (computer, telephone, etc.).
- Occasional lifting of materials up to 5 pounds may be required for training or documentation purposes.
