Role Overview
We seek a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in the Company’s growth by identifying new business opportunities, building strong client relationships, and developing strategies to augment our market presence. This position requires strategic thinking, excellent communication skills, and a passion for driving results. Frequent travel throughout the United States to trade shows, conferences, and conventions is a requirement—up to 30% travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Market Research and Analysis:
- Conduct market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive positioning, ensuring the company stays ahead of industry trends.
- Communicate with the marketing team to ensure all communications align with campaigns.
- Analyze competitors and evaluate our market position to identify growth opportunities.
- Lead Generation:
- Generate and qualify leads through various channels, including networking, cold calling, events, and other methods, while collaborating with the marketing team.
- Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of prospects.
- Complete prospecting lists from events, trade shows, conferences, and other networking events.
- Complete additional prospecting and lead generation tasks as assigned.
- Client Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients.
- Understand client needs and tailor solutions to meet their requirements.
- Sales Strategy Implementation:
- Assist in the development and execution of business development strategies and initiatives.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including partnerships, client acquisition, and market expansion.
- Track and report on the effectiveness of business development initiatives.
- Networking and Representation:
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, trade shows, conventions, and networking functions.
- Establish a strong presence within the industry and build relationships with key stakeholders in the Company’s primary industries.
- Join working groups within industry organizations; Participate in relevant industry associations, organizations, and groups.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with marketing, product development, and other teams to align business development efforts with company goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field;
- Proven experience in business development, sales, or a similar role (typically 3-5 years);
- Strong understanding of market dynamics and industry trends;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking;
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment;
- Strong self-management and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to think strategically and manage multiple projects simultaneously;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Proficiency with marketing and CRM software (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce, Google Suite);
- Ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions;
- Ability to travel to conventions, conferences, and trade shows.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with HubSpot as CRM;
- Familiarity with Google Suite;
- Experience managing large client lists while developing relationships with prospects;
- Experience with business travel and exhibiting at conventions, conferences, and trade shows.
