What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Specialist position at Capitol Mechanical?
Capitol Mechanical, Inc., an employee-owned company, is seeking a Payroll Specialist. The primary goal is to make sure all information is processed to ensure that employees are paid in an accurate and timely fashion. Performs all activities necessary to process payroll for 3 divisions, including maintaining related records, transmit tax filings, garnishments & 401 deferrals, also to reconcile PTO in accounting & HR software.
Job Responsibilities:
- Reviewing and syncing timecards in mobile app, enter into excel spreadsheet for weekly payroll
- Resolve discrepancies with employees and/or supervisors
- Enter and compute payroll information into accounting system
- Printing and distributing payroll checks
- Update payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, 401k deductions, etc.
- Facilitate the reconciliation of PTO in HR and Payroll systems
- Produce Federal, & State payroll tax payments online
- Process garnishments to vendors
- Process 401k deferrals & Safe Harbor contributions to One America
- Address employees pay-related concerns and provide accurate payroll information
- Maintain employee confidentiality and protect payroll operations by keeping all private information confidential
- Coordinate Safety program with our Field Representative
- Create Intercompany Billings for Insurance
- Remote A/R deposits to bank and post payments to customer accounts
- Assist in special projects/tasks as needed.
Job Qualifications:
- Associates degree and/or three years of experience in payroll field
- Experience in payroll software and other technology tools
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to organize, multitask and prioritize in deadline-driven environment
