- Implement behavioral plans for each student; perform interventions as needed.
- Drive vocational students to work experiences in the community.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, classroom teachers, specialists, and community partners.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community businesses to enhance and maximize employment opportunities for students.
- Measure and document students’ progress toward employment objectives.
- Evaluate effectiveness of instruction through formal and informal assessments.
- Promote independence and maintain the dignity of all learners.
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Experience working with students with disabilities and/or autism in schools and in the community
- Organizational and time management skills
- Behavior management skills
- Computer skills in Google Workspace/Microsoft 365 to perform data entry, assessments, scheduling, email and report preparation
- Experience with group dynamics and experiential or activity-based learning is preferred.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Passenger Endorsement (A) on CT driver’s license (or Massachusetts equivalent).
- Must pass Safety Care® training without restrictions
- Requires training provided by CREC in CPR, First Aid, and Bloodborne pathogens
- Requires DCF mandated reporter training.

General Purpose:
Under the supervision of the vocational team leader or designee, the associate instructor-vocational will supervise and coach students in employment experiences in campus and community work sites. The goal of the vocational program is to increase students’ employability through learning the soft skills, work habits, independence, and perseverance necessary to succeed in their homes, communities and potential job sites. The associate instructor-vocational will provide instruction and support in simulated and real-world environments to ensure students gain transferable skills necessary for their adult lives.
