Job Description :
Performs routine (journey-level) customer service work in the Central Records Unit, Information Services Section, Information Technology Services Division. Central Records maintains an extensive catalog of Historical Texas oil and natural gas well records in hard copy, microfilm, and digital formats. Work involves providing external customer service support and receiving and responding to public inquiries for information and / or state services. The Records Researcher maintains and organizes all the official records and assists customers with queries and retrieval of these records across multiple storage mediums. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Primarily indoors with heating and cooling regulated in a general office environment. The noise level in the work environment is generally low to moderate, with occasional customer conversations in public area. May work with old documents that contain dust and other materials.

The physical requirements described here are representative of those that an employee must meet to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Ability to reach high and low; open, close and retrieve files from file cabinets as well as operate a computer keyboard and appropriate office equipment. The position requires the ability to frequently stand, walk, sit, or stand for long periods of time, lift up to 30 lbs., open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
Work Hours and Telework : Standard office hours for Commission employees are 8 : 00 a.m. to 5 : 00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Our agency offers alternate schedules for employees, as long as it does not adversely affect operations and service levels, and standard hours of operation are maintained. The Commission may also offer telework based on the agency's approved Telework Plan. Alternate work schedules and telework may be discussed with the hiring manager during the interview process.
