WORK SCHEDULE

Standard business hours are M-F, 8 : 00 a.m. - 5 : 00 p.m.

Individual and work group schedule determined by the Waste Permits Division.

YOUR FUTURE TEAM

As part of TCEQ's Office of Waste, you would contribute to agency efforts to regulate the generation, treatment, storage, and disposal of various wastes and the cleanup of contaminated sites. See details about what we do.

This position is a member of our Waste Permits Division.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in civil engineering, environmental engineering, environmental science, geology or chemistry.
  • Training and / or experience performing research, lab work, or investigation.
  • Experience in reviewing or analyzing technical information or technical data.
  • Training and / or experience using Microsoft products.
  • Training and / or experience interpreting environmental rules and / or regulations, policies, and / or procedures.

Qualifications :

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING ...

  • Review and evaluate routine permit applications, reports, certifications, and other submittals for waste management, including regulatory classification and status of waste pursuant to state and federal regulations and statutes for the TCEQ.
  • Conduct technical reviews and evaluations of routine applications, reports, and plans pertaining to waste management; determine compliance with applicable laws, rules, technical principles, policies, and procedures
  • Provide information concerning authorizations and authorization processes to internal and external customers through verbal communication, correspondence, meetings, presentations, and public hearings.
  • Assist customers on the waste permits program through verbal communication, correspondence, data reports, presentations, and responses to Public Information Requests (PIRs).
  • EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in engineering, physical science, environmental science, or a related field.
  • Transcripts / College Hours or Course Work : See instructions on how to attach documents. A copy of your official college transcript or evaluation of foreign credentials in CAPPS is required if needed to meet the qualifications listed above.

  • CURRENT TCEQ EMPLOYEES

    This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Engineering Specialist I-V state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Environmental Permit Specialist I-V series.
