General Description : Serves as a vital member of the Veteran Entrepreneur team responsible for providing counseling, technical assistance, and training to Veterans and family members interested in starting their own business or to veterans and family members already in business. The Veteran Business Consultant will provide 1 : 1 consulting on various subjects, including business plan development, financials, marketing strategies, entity formation, capital acquisition, and government contracting. The Consultant also connects veterans and family members with partner resources for specific needs such as Tax and Legal guidance, Franchising, Copyright and Trademarks, and Manufacturing. Work involves outreach, coordinating, and advocating for business opportunities and other programs and services for veterans and their families. The Consultant will travel throughout the assigned region and Texas.
To promote a strong environment, TVC maintains a telecommuting policy. The policy is decided by division and contingent on continued performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Provides effective entrepreneur and business management consulting support to veteran clients in various situations and environments.
- Identifies and apprises prospective business support resources available.
- Performs research related to specific business-related information requests.
- Develop relationships with business support-related resources throughout assigned regions in Texas.
- Process Veteran Verification Letters and Veteran-Owned Business Logos.
- Works with veteran entrepreneurs and veteran business owners to benchmark status and monitor key performance indicators.
- Provides business consulting support as needed.
- Conducts business training classes and information seminars.
- Attend and participate in local, state, and federal meetings and training sessions specific to the Veterans Entrepreneur Program.
- Works with other TVC programs and collaborates with other local, state, and federal agencies and entities to assist veterans and their families.
- Develops and maintains the Veteran Entrepreneur database.
- Work hours other than 7 : 30 am - 4 : 30 pm will be required for work-related functions.
- Performs related work as assigned.

Qualifications :
Minimum Education : Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business administration, management, entrepreneurship, finance, accounting, or a related field. Experience may be substituted for education on a year-by-year basis. College Transcripts are required and must be provided before an interview can be extended, it is preferred they be attached to the application.

Normal office work environment, mostly sedentary in nature. Work involves extensive telephone usage and repetitive hand / wrist / finger motions while using the computer.
