GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Our mission at the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) is to serve, protect and advance the citizens and industries in the state with quality motor vehicle related services. We are a dynamic state agency dedicated to customer service, consumer protection and the success of motor vehicle-related industries.
Performs complex (senior-level) computer programming work in support of the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV), Information Technology Services Division. Work involves writing or modifying existing application software programs based on program specifications or verbal instruction to meet agency needs. Tasks may be performed independently or as part of a team. The position trains others and works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Provides all levels of support for application software programs, including problem resolution during standard and non-standard working hours.
Monitors, supports, and troubleshoots in all environments.
Conducts root cause analysis of system issues and provides recommendations for resolution.
Designs and writes programming code, tests, debugs, and documents software solutions.
Prepares analysis, plans, diagrams, and verification procedures for applications.
Provides technical leadership and assistance to team members.
Develops and modifies application program code to ensure operational success.
Participates in code reviews and ensures compliance with policies and procedures.
Maintains knowledge of changing technology trends and integrates best practices into development work.
May travel up to 10% of the time. Travel by car (may include flying). May include overnight travel. May require working extended hours and some evenings and weekends, as needed.
Required to attend work regularly and adhere to approved work hours in accordance with department policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Computer languages including Java / J2EE Spring Framework and SQL.

Qualifications : MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major in computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, or a related field.
- Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in computer programming or systems analysis and design.
- Experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.

REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION AND / OR LICENSURE
A valid Class "C" driver's license is required. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within ninety (90) days after entering Texas as a new resident. A satisfactory driving record is required for operating state or personal vehicles to conduct department business.
