About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated PD/PK Scientist to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing pharmacokinetic (PK) and pharmacodynamic (PD) studies to support drug discovery and development in preclinical settings. This role will play a crucial part in advancing our exosome-based therapeutic programs by conducting and optimizing in vivo research activities and ensuring the successful execution of preclinical studies.
This position requires a strong foundation in in vivo research methodologies, PK/PD modeling, and translational pharmacology, along with the ability to manage complex research operations.
Key Responsibilities
- PK/PD Modeling & Systems Pharmacology:
- Develop and implement mechanistic PK/PD and quantitative systems pharmacology models.
- Use modeling and simulation to predict human efficacious dose/dose regimen and inform the selection of first-in-human starting doses.
- Represent the PK/PD modeling discipline on multi-disciplinary drug discovery project teams.
- In Vivo Study Execution & Management:
- Plan, execute, and manage in vivo studies, including protocol development, dosing, tissue collection, study monitoring, and bio-sample management.
- Perform substance administration using various routes, including:
- Intravenous (IV) – MUST
- Intraperitoneal (IP)
- Subcutaneous (SC)
- Intramuscular (IM)
- Intertumoral (IT)
- Conduct tissue processing, bioanalysis, and pharmacokinetics evaluations.
- Data Analysis & Interpretation:
- Analyze and interpret PK/PD and pharmacology data to guide decision-making.
- Design quantitative pharmacology and pharmacokinetic studies, ensuring high-quality data generation.
- Prepare clear technical reports, publications, and oral presentations to communicate findings to internal teams and management.
- Collaboration & Innovation:
- Work cross-functionally with internal scientists and external CROs to support outsourced studies.
- Develop new methodologies, protocols, and procedures to advance preclinical research.
Qualifications
Required:
- Ph.D. in Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacodynamics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
- Strong expertise in PK/PD modeling and simulation.
- Broad and extensive experience with in vivo rodent research, including dosing, anesthesia, surgical procedures, necropsy, and tissue processing.
- Commitment to 3Rs-centered, welfare-oriented animal research practices.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and CROs.
- Exceptional organizational and attention to detail skills, with the ability to work independently and in team environments.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems efficiently, demonstrating resourcefulness and analytical thinking.
Preferred:
- Experience working with diverse therapeutic modalities, including small molecules, biotherapeutics, nucleic acid therapeutics, and gene therapy.
- Experience with metabolic chambers, behavioral assays, and analysis.
Work Environment / Physical Demands
- This is a laboratory-based role with occasional requirements for data analysis and reporting.
- Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift/carry materials up to 40 pounds.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $90,000 - $105,000
