POSITION PURPOSE
Responsible for developing and supervising an effective team of maintenance and operation technicians to safely deliver facilities equipment uptime and performance targets at the Pinto Valley Mine Site. This professional plays a key role in executing maintenance plans, managing breakdowns and performing service requests, as well as conducting field coordination with specialized contractors. This position works closely with the maintenance, operations, supply chain and technical services teams at Pinto Valley as well as with external suppliers, contractors and consultants to optimize and standardize practices, enhance safety, reduce waste in maintenance and operational activities and provide effective solutions to diverse customers within the mine site.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

- Follow safe work procedures and act safely while working in compliance with all MSHA safety guidelines and Pinto Valley Mine policies and procedures
- Participate in proactive activities to reduce the probability and mitigate consequences of potential safety incidents to make Pinto Valley Mine a safe place to work
- Promote and develop a safe and healthy work environment for all team members and contractors by implementing proactive actions
- Monitor that all employees and contractors are certified to perform their activities and in compliance with local, state, federal and company standards and operating procedures

- Make sure that all team activities adhere to the Collective Bargain Agreement
- Develop a skills matrix based on team functions and learning objectives to deliver and update a training plan
- Define team member expectations, monitor progress, review performance and provide feedback. Provide coaching as necessary to maximize team effectiveness
- Identify tooling and equipment needs for the team to optimize execution of activities and evaluate feasibility of investment
- Develop team awareness of the Pinto Valley Work Management Process and highlight the role of each team member
- Resolve conflicts (internal and external) in a timely and fair manner according to CBA agreement and company guidelines
- Work with HR to have the team properly staffed
- Supervise Execution of Maintenance and Operational Facilities Plans .………… (20%)
- Provide leadership, expertise and guidance to all facilities maintenance and operational activities scheduled and unscheduled
- Make sure that business team expectations are met, and performance of the team is according to plans
- Execute maintenance and operational work plans according to schedules released weekly by planning, and allocate resources according to plan requirements
- Manage breakdowns and emergency work by troubleshooting issue, assessing risk and allocating labor and resources to resolve the issue in a safe and timely manner
- Make sure that the facilities team is properly represented in coordination meetings to elaborate plans and shutdowns
- Work with supply chain to establish and maintain a proper level of inventory by analyzing inventory levels, critical spares, slow movement, obsolescence, developing BOM’s, etc
- Report periodically facilities team performance to identify deviations and monitor improvement action items
- Manage Facilities Contractors & External Support .….……………………….…..… (20%)
- Coordinate, organize and support deployment of contractors and external support for facilities maintenance and operational activities
- Confirm and record that contractors and external support are following MSHA and Pinto Valley guidelines
- Supervise, evaluate and approve results of work performed by contractors and external support
- Evaluate economically and strategically the different functions within facilities team to propose either function insource or outsource
- Make sure that current contracted functions (Overhead Cranes, Janitorial & HVAC) have their records (safety, expenses, work orders, etc) up to date and ready for inspection
- Make sure that contracted equipment, rentals & consumables (mobile equipment, compressors, aircons, facilities services) records are up to date and ready for inspection
- Manage and Report Facilities Budget and Expenses ………………..………..…… (20%)
- Participate in the development of the facilities team budget by providing plans of major work, historical expenses information, additions and decommissions of equipment, feasibility of functions insourcing or outsourcing, optimization targets, etc
- Review periodically with the team the economic performance of the different functions under your supervision to create awareness and identify opportunities for improvement
- Report budget performance to chain of command highlighting deviations and listing corrective action items
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Required

- Diploma or certificate
- Diploma in mechanical, electrical, electronics, mining or metallurgical disciplines
YEARS OF RELEVANT EXPERIENCE:
- 3 years of experience in a mining operational facility
- 5 years of experience in a mining operational facility
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES (KSA):
- Understanding of safety protocols and practices in a mining processing plant or open pit mine environment
- Knowledge of principles of supervision, training, performance evaluation and contractor management
- Basic principles and practices of budget preparation, monitoring and administration
- Capability to read and understand construction drawings, P&ID, work plans and equipment specifications
- Understanding of work management process in ERP’s
- Understanding of Lean Maintenance methodologies to reduce waste and inefficiencies
- Experience with facilities equipment and support activities such as road maintenance, pipe welding, overhead cranes maintenance, compressors, janitorial, HVAC, carpentry, trash management, etc
- Valid US driver’s license (must obtain AZ driver’s license)
- Able to speak, comprehend, and write in English
