Short Range Planning Engineer

POSITION PURPOSE
Reporting to the Sr. Short Range Planning Engineer, the Short Range Planning Engineer is responsible for producing daily and weekly mine and project plans, communicating with Mine Operations, and other necessary departments to ensure quality execution.

• Work primarily with Mine Technical Services, Mine Operations, Mine Maintenance Planning, Mine Maintenance Execution, Dispatch Team.

External:

• Work with contractors and vendors.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage and ensure all employees and contractors are working in compliance with all Pinto Valley Mine and MSHA safety guidelines and procedures.
• Ensure all activities are compliant with Company policies and procedures, federal and state regulations as well as local regulatory agencies.
• Strong collaboration and communication of plans with various stakeholders.
• Create and communicate 24-hour mining plans.
• Report on and analyze daily mining progress.
• Create week plan package as needed.
• Work with mid-range and long-range planning to ensure objectives are being met in the short term.
• Track key projects and ensure they are being carried out on time and with the required quality control.
• Design short-term dumps, ramps, and projects.
• Work with other groups and personnel in Technical Services to ensure their executable work and priorities are being addressed daily.
• Develop and track KPIs to ensure daily and weekly objectives are being met.
• Work with dispatch to ensure targets and priorities are being met.
• Regular field visits with stakeholders to measure progress and quality of work.
• Plan, budget, communicate, and coordinate to meet goals in a safe and efficient manner.
• Responsible for but not limited to all tasks/duties assigned or required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• 2 to 5 years of mining experience.
• Mine Engineering or similar degree.
• Knowledge of drill-blast-load-haul open pit mining sequence is preferred.
• Prior experience in a copper operation strongly preferred.

KEY COMPETENCIES / SKILLS :

• Experience with MineStar or similar fleet management system.
• Experience with SAP or similar purchasing program.
• Prior exposure to mine planning software (Vulcan, Terrain, AcQuire) is preferred.
• Strong computer skills with Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
• Strong project management skills required.
• Quick learner with proactive mindset.
• Proven ability to identify problems and devise solutions.
• Excellent communication, analytical, management and problem-solving skills are required.
• Ability to speak, comprehend, read, and write English fluently.

WORK ENVIRONMENT :

• This role is generally 75% office environment and 25% field environment.
• Must have ability to stand and walk for short durations, including walking up and down stairs and across uneven surfaces.
• Must have ability to kneel, crawl, stoop, and squat, occasionally in confined spaces.
