POSITION SUMMARY


The Educational Technology Specialist position supports and empowers administrators, staff, teachers and students to enhance learning through improved integration of technology. The primary focus of the position is to enrich and support teaching and learning while strengthening the technology skills of students, teachers, and staff.  

The Educational Technology Specialist will assist administrators and classroom teachers in the incorporation of technology hardware and software into learning experiences for students. They will also work to support the school improvement efforts and build the instructional technology capacity of the administration and teachers. 

 

Extensive knowledge, experience, and successful implementation of instructional technology are required. Familiarity in leading professional development, coaching teachers, and sound pedagogy is a must. The Educational Technology Specialist will focus on providing rigorous, relevant, and engaging learning experiences for teachers by providing professional development that supports the learning of students.

 

The position will assist technology support services with other duties as assigned and perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or assigned by the Principal.

 

REPORTS TO: Principal and Chief Technology Officer

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Attendance - Requires daily attendance to meet student and staff needs.
  • Mobility - Requires travel to work sites within a building and campus.
  • Reading - Reads published articles, documents, news releases, etc. for information to use and/or pass on to others.
  • Dexterity - Transports materials between District locations; performs repairs to equipment, fixtures, and buildings; operates computer hardware for programming or applications.
  • Writing - Provides written procedures for plan preparation and implementation.
  • Communicating - Provides instruction to students; communicates with computer users to receive or give information; communicates with employees, citizens, suppliers, etc. via telephone; works with students to reinforce learning assignments.
  • Sight -Reviews published educational materials for selection purposes; visually obtains information from computer monitor; visually troubleshoots and repairs system, structural and equipment components

  • Develops and assists teachers with becoming literate users of technology applications.
  • Develops and assists teachers with how/where/when to utilize technology tools and applications for enhancing student instruction.
    • Assists teachers in the development of lesson plans that use a variety of technologies and with the integration of technology in the instructional program.
    • Assists administrators and classroom teachers in the incorporation of technology hardware and software into learning experiences for students.
    • Provides direct support to the classroom teacher via coaching or modeling for the utilization of technology tools and resources to support student learning.
  • Works side by side with teachers, students, administrators and coordinators to embed technology into the curriculum as a tool that facilitates student-centered learning. 
    • Assists students and staff with the effective use of technology.  Provides technology related enrichment opportunities to meet the learning needs of individual students.
    • Supports and encourages integration of technology into the curriculum as a learning tool to support students and staff.
  • Models technology integration and assists teachers with delivery of instruction in the classroom.
  • Delivers on-time, needs based professional development to faculty and staff throughout the District.
    • Provides ongoing staff development at the building and district level, including modeling new technologies which can be integrated into the District curriculum.
  • Provides timely technical support. 
    • Provides basic technical assistance with hardware, software, and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, and scanners.
    • Assists with basic troubleshooting of system hardware, software, and operator problems.  Facilitates the repair of hardware and the reinstallation of software, by providing appropriate referral to resolve problems.
  • Provides vision and leadership to all schools serviced.
    • Previews, evaluates, and recommends appropriate curriculum hardware and software.
    • Monitors for equipment safety and preventive maintenance; maintains an ongoing equipment and software inventory in their building.
    • Coordinates hardware and software purchases at the building level and provides technology resources that support and enhance the curriculum.
  • Engages in ongoing professional growth & development opportunities.
    • Attends technical conferences and seminars to keep abreast of new software and hardware products, and participates in faculty meetings, technology department meetings, District technology committee meetings, educational conferences, professional training seminars, and workshops. 
    • Attends educational conferences and professional development opportunities to remain current on pedagogy and practices that will support teaching and learning in the District.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS – Required qualifications to effectively perform job. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.

  • Experience: Requires one to three years of classroom teaching experience
  • Education Preparation: Requires a Master’s degree 
  • Certification: Any Missouri teacher certification at elementary level
