Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Financial Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will assist the Controller in monitoring day-to-day accounting operations, closing accounting books, responding to lot inquiries, and handling special projects. This role is crucial in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our financial processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Record monthly accounting entries, review and analyze general ledger accounts, and perform reconciliations, including deferred revenue calculations and other accounting entries.
- Assist in compiling lot income statements and other financial reports.
- Ensure the completion of end-of-month checklists and work papers.
- Serve as a back-up for the General Ledger Manager.
- Provide assistance to lots as needed.
- Administer the Bank of America online Pcard program and the Visa Prepaid program.
- Aid in the filing of personal property tax.
- Prepare estimated tax payments to Accounts Payable and manage payment coupons.
- Conduct month-end expense reviews.
- Prepare and analyze surplus and deficiencies on repossessions.
- Undertake special projects as requested by the Controller, General Ledger Manager, or Principal Accounting Officer.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by your direct manager.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures, supporting the company’s mission, vision, values, and standards of ethics.
- Ensure daily attendance to complete all duties in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred OR two years of related experience or combination of education and experience
- Proven experience in general ledger accounting and financial reporting.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and procedures.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
