The Assistant House Manager supports the operations of Caramoor’s public events by providing an amiable and engaging customer service experience for our guests. This includes helping to prepare venues for their arrival, assisting with wayfinding, and supporting safety and security measures. This position is seasonal and based on the schedule of Caramoor programs, June through August, Thursday – Sunday, afternoons and evenings. A full schedule of events will be available March 11th at caramoor.org.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Experience Experience in front-of-house or customer service is a plus. The ability to learn on the job is a must.
Customer Service and Communication Skills Must have a friendly and professional attitude and work well with others. Be compassionate and accepting of those of different ages, backgrounds, and experience. Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills are desired.

Working Conditions Ability to work in a busy environment and with the public, maneuver outdoors, in all weather conditions, on woodland trails, gravel pathways and lawns. Flexibility to work during weekends and evenings as needed for events. Ability to lift/move up to 40lbs. Valid driver’s license and motor vehicle background check are required. Authorization to work in the U.S. is required.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
- To warmly welcome and actively engage with all guests while facilitating their safe and timely entry and exit of venues, including guests with access requirements.
- Conduct shift meetings before each event with Event Staff and Volunteers to review assignments, distribute materials and nurture that feeling of community that is part of Caramoor’s beauty.
- Support Volunteers with greeting and ushering responsibilities.
- Assist and support the parking coordinator
- Help manage guided tours and self-guided tours of the Rosen House
- Fill in to house manage concerts.
- Ensure all public areas are tidy, well-presented and prepared to receive guests, including the installation and removal of event-related signage and equipment.
- Collaborate with Guest Experience and Volunteer Coordinator & Technical Production Staff to ensure events start on time.
- Enforce venue policies.
- Follow protocols for reporting safety concerns and responding to emergency situations.
- Demonstrate knowledge regarding events and facilities, as well as the history and mission of Caramoor.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
