What You'll Be Doing:
Under the general direction of the Sports Supervisor, the Sports Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, supervising, and evaluating athletic programs and recreational activities. This position oversees the daily operations of sports programs, supervises part-time staff and volunteers, ensures facility and equipment readiness, and promotes a safe, engaging environment aligned with the District’s Core Values: Innovation, Integrity, Teamwork, and Customer Service.

Program Coordination
- Assists with planning, developing, and managing youth and adult sports programs, leagues, and tournaments.
- Schedule field and court reservations, create game schedules, and manage reschedules.
- Ensure risk management practices, including waivers and insurance requirements, are in place.
- Prepare and maintain promotional materials and registration information for programs.
- Research, evaluate, and recommend new programs to meet community needs and interests.
Customer Service & Communication
- Serve as the primary contact for participants, parents, coaches, and team captains.
- Address participant concerns, feedback, and incidents with professionalism and adherence to District policies.
- Provide timely updates regarding program schedules, weather-related changes, and other relevant information.
- Communicate effectively with community members, staff, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Staffing & Supervision
- Assist in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating program staff, including, part-time Site Supervisors, coaches, and volunteers.
- Assist in conducting staff meetings
- Conducts staff training sessions to ensure readiness and adherence to standards.
- Provide mentorship and leadership to Site Supervisors.
- Model professional behavior and resolve staff or patron concerns in alignment with District policies.
Facility & Equipment Management
- Ensure the maintenance, cleanliness, and functionality of athletic program areas by monitoring conditions, identifying issues, and coordinating necessary repairs or improvements through appropriate channels.
- Manage the inventory and procurement of sports equipment, uniforms, safety equipment, and awards.
- Supervise on-site program operations and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
Administrative Duties
- Manage sports budget with a focus on fiscal responsibility.
- Maintain accurate program records and update information on registration platforms.
- Prepare participation reports, program evaluations, and facility usage projections.
- Attend staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and serve on District committees as assigned.
Special Projects & Events
- Support community events and initiatives to promote District programs.
- Assist with marketing efforts and building partnerships to enhance program visibility.
- Act as the Manager on Duty when needed.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
Candidates over 18 must pass a background check prior to employment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation, Sports Management, Physical Education, or a closely related field. Progressively responsible experience in a related field may substitute for education.
- At least one year of programming and staff management experience, with a focus on youth and adult sports programs.
- CPR, AED, and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
- Valid Colorado driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Visual acuity and hearing are required for reading documents, operating equipment, answering phones, and effective communication. Exposure to varying temperatures, weather, odors, noise, dust, and sports-related equipment or environments.
