Position Overview
This is a full-time position based in Austin, Texas. It is the entry point for CarbonBetter’s Accelerated Commodity Trader (ACT) Program, designed to rapidly develop high-potential talent into self-sufficient commodity traders who will build their own book of business. The ACT Program combines hands-on operational experience with intensive training and mentorship to prepare participants for successful trading careers.
As a Commodity Trading Analyst , you will gain exposure to the dynamic natural gas trading industry by supporting real operational tasks, mastering trading fundamentals, and working closely with experienced traders.
Responsibilities:
Operations Responsibilities (40 hours per week):
Manage pipeline nominations, confirmations, scheduling logistics, and other duties necessary to support existing books of business.
Ensure seamless execution of trades by collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Trading/Marketing/Origination Development (20 hours per week):
Engage in self-study to master trading concepts, including scheduling, contracts, tariffs, credit & risk, and P&L modeling.
Work under the mentorship of experienced traders to pitch and execute trade ideas using a "sandbox" development book.
Analyze market trends, pricing spreads, and transportation strategies to identify trading opportunities.
Sandbox Development Book:
Collaborate with traders to pitch and analyze potential trading opportunities.
Gain exposure to the decision-making process behind trade execution.
Professional Development:
Engage in self-study topics such as scheduling, contracts, tariffs, credit & risk management, and storage strategies.
Participate in mentorship sessions with senior traders and ACT Program leaders.
