Direct Support Professional - In Home Department.

Part Time, flexible schedule options with wages starting at $18.00/hour to serve the following locations: Chatfield, Lanesboro, Preston, and Wykoff

Cardinal of Minnesota is currently seeking an In Home Direct Support Professional for clients residing in the Rochester area, with travel required for in-person events located in SE MN. This non-exempt position works part time, and flexibility may be needed based upon the needs of the clients/department.

This position provides In-Home Services via Individualized Home Supports (IHS), Semi-Independent Living Services (SILS), and Integrated Community Supports (ICS). The Direct Support Professional is responsible for fulfilling our mission, demonstrating our Culture, and modeling our Core Values in their everyday interactions.

Cardinal of Minnesota, Ltd. was founded in 1995 and specializes in providing community living in a family setting for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Long-term residential living and In-Home support services. Cardinal operates 44 residential homes in Minnesota, serving 240 clients and is comprised of a workforce of approximately 450 employees. Cardinal operates in the following communities: Rochester, Winona, Austin, La Crescent, Red Wing, Spring Valley, Harmony and Bemidji.

Responsibilities:

• Advocate and provide supportive services to promote individual needs, interests, and preferences to individuals served
• Implement client's plan of care, including desired outcomes
• Perform essential functions of the position, such as direct care, household tasks, laundry services, errands, medical appointments, shopping, and community activities, etc.
• Ability to safely transport clients in the community
• All other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills:

• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record and reliable transportation
• Ability to pass a MN Criminal background screen
• 18 years of age or older
• Physical skills: walk, squat, stoop/bend, kneel, climb stairs, lift at least 50 lbs, push and pull against resistance, implement physical and nonphysical interventions for our clients
• Maintain assigned work and endurance to perform tasks over long periods of time
• Strong English communication skills to accurately, effectively, and timely communication with clients, supervisors, family members and co-workers
• Adequate vision for frequent reading, writing, and driving
• Adequate computer skills for required daily documentation, communication, training, and timekeeping

• Self-driven with ability to be flexible and adaptable to change
• Must be reliable, honest, and possess strong decision-making skills
