What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at Cardiology, P.C.?
This position is responsible for:
- Providing superior customer service and interpersonal skills to treat patients, family members, physicians and co-workers with care, courtesy and respect.
- Completing required paperwork and consent forms according to departmental policies.
- Ensuring patients have been properly prepared for examination, including checking vital signs, obtaining family history, recording allergies and preparing list of medications for physician review.
- Accurately and thoroughly utilizing the EMR in accordance with practice standards.
- Coordinating with physician to review test results.
- Calling and informing patients of laboratory results when appropriate.
- Ensuring work area is clean, stocked and safe for patient care.
- Attending training and team meetings as assigned.
- Performing clerical duties which will require knowledge of computer systems including EMR, MS Word and email.
- Obtaining PA's for patient prescriptions.
- Maintaining confidential information.
Required Skills:
- Excellent communication skills are required for this position.
- Moderately advanced computer skills are required.
- Basic mathematics generally obtained in the pursuit of a high school education.
- Strong medical terminology.
- Ability to accurately determine blood pressure and basic vital signs.
- Excellent organizational skills, required.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record, preferred.
Experience:
Two or more years of medical office or medical training required.
Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalency Required. One to two years of college level education and/or medical training preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
Physical Requirements for Essential Job Functions:
Active work performed in a clinic setting. Ability to lift, push and/or pull up to 20 pounds. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
